Our History

Beginning in the late 70s, Ralph opened the "Yummy Carousel" in Knoxville to offer an array of candies, ice cream and the now famous fudge to local customers. The fame quickly spread across East Tennessee and soon the "Yummy Shop" opened on Market Square, along with locations in Chattanooga and Atlanta. Along the way, Ralph began to offer his famous fudge under the Old South Candy brand to various retail outlets and venues throughout the Smoky Mountains. Over the decades, a tradition of old-fashioned, small batch fudge has been maintained by Ralph and his family. In 2022, Ralph retired at the age of 92 and Old South Candy merged with Uncle Butch's Fudge.
